This is what happens when a culture doesn’t understand happiness isn’t the end goal of life. Consumerism which promotes idea of earning your happiness through constant self-improvement has its logical conclusion in this idea that all which isn’t happy or striving for happiness through consumption is wasted. This is functionally same ideology as those social media life coaches selling the hustle grindset.

All of it. Anarchism is much more accessible by osmosis than most other leftist philosophies, because it doesn’t have the same level of propaganda levied against it that communism does. The anti-anarchist propaganda focuses mainly on it being a “DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DOOOOOOO!” kind of “philosophy” which is appealing to impotent manchildren and edgy teenagers. Some of those people then actually read anarchist theory and realise it isn’t about that at all, but a lot of them, like libertarians, just want an excuse to be a spoilt brat of a human being who wants everything handed to them and a bastardized version of anarchism is a quick and easy way to do that.

If anarchism is primarily about the liberation of the individual free from the impositions of others then it just a short step to apply that only to a small group and subjugate the rest.

I think “If” is the operative word there. Lots of self-styled rebels who’ve never read a word of Bookchin think anarchy just means “I can hurt anyone I want and there’s no one to stop me.”
Being an ML myself, I have my own criticisms of anarchism, but I still think it deserves better than to be perverted by antisocial chuds.
