Weather you like him or not that fact that this administration is detaining and interrogating a streamer for who they speak to should absolutely scare the shit out of all of us.

Agreed! I’m 42 and I’m tired of living through these “once in a lifetime events” every 24/48hrs.

If we ever get another president after Trump they need to abolish ICE. It’s pretty clear at this point that the organizations vague ability to skirt the Constitution is a loaded gun for authoritarians to use to go after their enemies.

I don’t think changes anything. Hasan was detained by CBP, not ICE.

And you can’t exactly just abolish CBP. Most Americans still would want “secure borders”

And modern society to too entangled with the concept of the state and law enforcement that I don’t see any way of any law enforcement organization to just be abolished. There no political will to do so.

Most Americans lean liberal, not leftist.

Maybe so reforms and a “you can’t detain/arrest non-violent undocumented immigrants” rule but that’s the most I realistically see happening.

You abolish ICE, they are just gonna use CBP, FBI, National Guard, or whatever. I mean, if they are gonna violate laws, they will do so reguardless of what name/banner the Gestapo is labeled under.

Seems to me the evidence is in that it’s neither the one nor the other for the majority.

Of course. I don’t like Hassan at all but it is so bleeding g obvious that Trump is running the authoritarian playbook. Why nobody seems to believe their own eyes is beyond me.

I agree with your statement. However, I’m genuinely curious, why don’t you like Hassan? I prefer Mike from PA on the whole but am definitely in a pro-Hassan bubble.
