Nobody is asking for it, but that’s not the purpose: the purpose is to stir up opposition.
I suspect a significant portion of the population will be indifferent to the proposal. At best, they’ll shrug and say, ‘Sure, makes sense if that’s what’s needed,’ without bothering to think it through fully.
More liberally minded people react with justified opposition to the proposal. At that point, the Conservatives will rally the indifferent against ‘the woke’. They hope to gain support by convincing people they have a common enemy.
“Labour’s slightly left of me, Reform is to the right, here I am, stuck right of middle I’m screwed.” - Rishi Sunak, probably.

I think the median average temperature is around 2,200°C.
The Earth has a radius of 6,371km, giving a volume of 1.08e13km^3.
A sphere of half this volume would have a radius of 5,057km. Within the Earth, this sphere would sit at a depth of 6,371 - 5,057 = 1,314km.
From this chart, the temperature at that depth is around 2,200°C, so half the volume of the Earth has a temperature above that, and half a temperature below it.

618ml equates exactly to 600ml + 3% - maybe manufacturers add 3% on top because that’s the maximum allowable variance in quantities?
From a quick search, 412ml and 515ml both seem pretty common too.

You think a Gentoo user would appear in a comic with a graphical interface?
“Pleasure to meet you, old stringy man. Yes, I’d love to meet your younger, plumper family.”
“I have never shied away from tough decision. Our choices over the last week, opposed by the party opposite, will prove to be the right ones. Many experts are already predicting a golden future, with up to one million new homes built, and a new trade route to Japan.”
