The creepy/dark atmosphere is actually the thing that appeals to me about them! It’s the platforming and puzzles I am worried about.
The actual interviews (for the Human Can Opener podcast) are great insights into both the making of the game, and the creation of the world by Kurvitz et al growing up. Really really good discussions and insights.
Zaum - The Inside Story focuses more on the time after Disco was released.
Both look really cool, but I am really not a big platformer guy so I’m unsure. Inside is 90% off on GOG though so might pick it up for a dollar and a half. Limbo is full price and even though it’s just $10 I don’t know that I’d like it enough. How hard is the platforming and the puzzles?
How good are these games? Are they worth buying before the delisting just to have them?
You should also watch the 41st Precinct interview with Martin Luiga, and Argo Tuulik in three parts [1, 2, 3], as well as the “Zaum - The Inside Story” in two parts [1, 2] if you want a grasp on the whole story. I still dream of him getting an episode with Kurvitz one day, but Luiga and Tuulik being the two co-creators of Elysium and both players from his tabletop sessions I consider these episodes essential listening.
I just finished Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree today, after having to go to bed last night in the midst of fighting the last boss and coming back fresh today. That second phase definitely took me for a spin, or at least it did my particular build. Maybe a ranged build would have had an easier time. It was still a cool fight though, and that first phase was pretty much perfect.
I had a really good time with this game. The Soulslike Metroidvania with a PoE style skill tree ended up tickling me juuust right. I love theorycrafting and making builds, and it ended up being amazingly fun in this game. There is some interesting synergy you can setup by mixing and matching various classes’ skill trees, and I’m already thinking about a potential second playthrough. Though I’m actually equally tempted by going straight into NG+, as my Chaos daggers build with two teleport skills ended up being super fun to play.
I definitely recommend it, especially if you like these kinds of games. My playtime ended up at just over 40h, though that was with me exploring basically 100% and finding all the optional bosses. Not bad for a €40 game, and if you can get it on sale I’d call it a bargain.
I love KYLE.ENGINEERS. He pops out every February/March and lets me pretend I understand aero. Nothing better than mumbling “hm yes, vortices, I see” to yourself over a cup of coffee as you build hype over the coming season.
Is SubLinks still around?
I don’t know that I think that’s a 1-to-1 comparison. If you looked at this picture with no foreknowledge of where it was from or what it was like uncropped you’d think it’s a perfectly innocent headshot of a woman. It’s not like strapless tops or dresses don’t exist, and the hat suggests she’s clothed so there is no reason for the mind to jump to the idea that she’s naked unless you already know it’s from Playboy.
But I don’t know, I might just not get it. I had no idea the shoulder was such a big deal so it might just be me there’s something wrong with. I feel like I missed a memo. Which does happen a lot, to be honest.
Trump deregulating gas and paint to put lead back in both would be so unsurprising it won’t even garner a reaction from me.
The image has attracted controversy in recent years because of its subject matter, and many journals have deemed it inappropriate and discouraged its use, while others have banned it from publication outright.
Brother, it’s a cropped image. Who the fuck cares where it’s from? What are we upset about here, a bare naked shoulder? That’s some Victorian era level puritanism.
Can we stop with the narrative that disorders that completely fuck your life up and make you struggle with things normal people do without thinking is somehow a "“superpower”?
I’m exactly the same.
Yes.
INTERNALLY COHERENT
Yeah, looks like it. Though from the way he stumbled around and jumped into the side of the other turbine I can’t tell if he was just totally out of it on something and it was a horrible accident or if it was a suicide.
You and me both :(
Sounds like me too, and I also am AuDHD.
Might be better later than to look at median instead of average. Though best would be some kind of contingent average, I think. Like, average life span for people who lived past 15/18/21 whatever number best covers for childhood mortality.
