It wasn’t a health concern. The only concerns for 5G were long-term practicality, energy and service costs and shorter coverage.

5G was supposed to be made for robots, IoT and wireless home internet.

I haven’t tried 5G, but it seems that the expected speeds would be the same as 4G in early days.

5G is actually two completely different radio technologies under one brand name. One of them is just the same thing as 4G but like a little faster, which is probably what it means if you see a “5G” by your phone’s connection strength meter. The other is what people worrying about 5G actually mean, millimeter wave. It’s capable of much faster speeds in an ideal case, but that ideal case involves direct clear line of sight from the device to the tower, with no buildings or trees or hands holding the phone in the way.

The problem has nothing really to do with speed its capacity. At least in dense city areas 5g works out a bit better by having lots of small 5g towers rather than one big range tower. 4g in London for example simply didn’t work too many big buildings and too many devices.

For more rural or sparsley populated areas is doesn’t have anywhere near as much of a usecase as a normal cell tower can cover the region fine.

Also we got shit 5G cos of china scare its not Huawei 5G that was supposed to be installed.

My understanding of 5g is that it was going to be rolled out in Western countries like it is in China, but then there were “security concerns” regarding huawei so they stopped building towers and started selling high speed 4g as 5g. I have no idea where I heard this from though so it could be all incorrect

5g didn’t bring the widespread adoption of everything being connected that it was sold as, but it’s way faster than 4g and definitely worth it.
