A top comment asks “why so mad against french?”, and the OP (the main mod and poster of MoG) suggests it’s because we “hate france’s freedom of speech and their ‘anti-islam stance’”. Declines to share a link or context to the comment
Out of curiosity I went looking for the context to that comment, and discovered that it was in reaction to a wildly Islamophobic cartoon making a joke about Gazan’s starving during the month of ramadan [linky] [CW: Racism, Islamophobia, genocide]:

I had a struggle session with my partner about why I seem to have such a bias against the French as that sort of bias is out of character for me and I couldn’t figure it out.
Eventually I realized it’s the colonialism and hateful xenophobia against Muslims / anyone less than lily white. When I explained that was why, they apologized and became a hater with mW.

Before I went looking for the context I had a few guesses about what the comment was in response to, and honestly it could have been half a dozen other ones but given it was goat I figured it was probably Gaza/Palestine/Islam related

I honestly don’t think he sees how absurd that insistence is, or else is extremely mindful of his own language to avoid contradicting his statements of non-violence.
He clearly has no problem with violence against Hamas/Hezbollah/Iran/Russia/China/anyOtherWesternBoogyman, but he’s careful never to outright say it. Whenever he gets close he deflects by whatabouting Iran or Russia or China.
Anytime somebody says that there’s never an excuse for violence you should just immeidatly say “give me your wallet or ill kick your ass” and then just keep saying that and calling them a hypocrite if they don’t just give it to you.

The French govt.’s means of harassing antifascists, its colonizations in Afrasia along with the Americas, its agreements with Fascist Italy, agreements with the Third Reich, its businessmen’s willing collaboration with the Axis, its willingness to commit antisemitic atrocities, the continuation of Axis elements post‐1945, its present negligence towards refugees (of colour), its complicity in supporting the Zionist entity: all of these phenomena make somebody’s disdain for France slightly easier to understand. The fact that many ordinary French adults also voted for the alt‐right makes the hatred a little easier to understand as well.
The point here is not to justify Francomisia. Whatever one thinks of it, one must first understand it in order to affect it. There are plenty of ways that French adults can reduce Francomisia without either resorting to self‐harm or scolding those who loathe them.
Myself, I can agree that white‐bashing statements like ‘UNLIMITED GENOCIDE ON HONKIES NOW’ do become depressing after reading or hearing them so many times, but ultimately it’s just a mouse screaming into a void: it is rare for anybody to assault somebody else for being a white gentile, and even when it does occasionally happen the authorities tend to be extremely unforgiving. So I have bigger things to worry about. I’m part French myself (whoop‐de‐doo) and I tend to shrug off anti‐French remarks since I’m already depressed. Even if somebody hating whites really agitated me, I don’t see how scolding or mocking that person would fix anything.

I block a couple Zionist debate perverts, some dude who posted almost all RFEL/RFA/VOA, and comms like NCD on my general Lemmy account, but I don’t block goat and their comm because it’s mostly just funny watching them froth.
I have to say, I am much less amused by it now than I was even 8 hours ago.
When I get sucked into these vortexes by the end I am praying for the ban-hammer to put an end to my misery. I think he’s in Australia or New Zealand or something, so by the time he’s back up and active i’m starting to get to the shame and regret part of my self destruction cycle.
