Shadowrun is the exception because of the Awakening and all the fun escapist magic and spirituality flowing through the setting. Magic-less cyberpunkerinos are both uncomfortably close to contemporary society and contemporary society’s ruling class is in a sprint to enshittify the world with more and more layers of shit with a thin gaudy speckling of the aesthetic without anything subversively dangerous in the shitted out substance.
The “punk” is thoroughly stomped on. The corpos sell it like Che shirts. The genre used to be my very favorite and now it’s… this.

There’s a vague internal narrative, a fantasy adventure that so many bazingas daydream about, where they are running the grid against the yakuza
or whatever and have a hot cyberpunkerino waifu that has noncommittal sexy sex with them between flings with other hot cyberpunkerino side dishes but all in a way that’s just a boomer’s harem fantasies without any scary subversive elements like, you know, class struggle or trans people visibly existing.The cyberpunkerinos are old now and so much of the groundwork is just aging Japanophobia with a paradoxical pathology that wants to bang hot cyborg waifus that may Japanese names and/or katanas.

As I took a walk today on an errand, I saw the third ZYBERTRUKKK for the year.
I live in a fairly remote area that’s beautiful most of the year, thriving as if in spite of the planet being on fire.
Just seeing one of those fucking things reminds me that there are credulous bazingas that want to burn the planet down, and perhaps eventually destroy the natural beauty that is still around me, all because at some superficial aesthetic level that means more ZYBERTRUKKKs and other treats and makes them feel closer to the cyberpunkerinos.
What you don’t want to get on the Boeing Star Liner that may or may not explode on take off?
CNSA is still doing real non-bazinga space exploration. I’m looking forward to their lunar ISRU experiment on Chang’e 8 in 2028.
My enthusiasm for space exploration is drained, but not entirely extinguished.
The Chinese International Lunar Research Station plan is really well considered, it’s doing a lot of firsts but in a very safe and logical way, gradually developing space infrastructure and spaceflight experience before sending people.
Me right now:
China, unlike amerikkka, can actually do both long term planning and infrastructure development.
