It is hilarious that liberals have actually appropriated the rhetoric that saying “actually, both sides are wrong” ends up favouring the “evil” side, but they continue to apply this maxim to the USSR and Nazi Germany. An inability to realize that what makes this maxim ridiculous, in the latter case, is that, in fact, it was the Soviet Union that ended fascist barbarism, while the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are two cogs in the same bellicose, anti-democratic, imperialist machine. As long as the choice is reduced to “blue vs. red” (a fake contradiction), the freedom of the human race will remain, at best, a distant dream.
But perhaps what irritates me the most is the overly pedantic use of Jim and Pam memes.
Apparently saying that it’s bad to fuel a war that should have nothing to do with you while most of your people can’t afford adequate food and medical care is a betrayal of the left.
When these people say the left, they mean left of Hitler a bit
Left of Hitler, while it’s convenient.
Left of Hitler, so long as there are no evil tankies around.
Left of Hitler, only in that they purchased some rainbow socks from Lockheed Martin.
Left of Hitler, so long as the minorities don’t get too uppity.
Left of Hitler, unless they’re told it’s ok to be racist towards Russians or the Chinese.
Left of Hitler, unless they actually have to take action to stop law enforcement from keeping children in cages.
Left of Hitler, unless the people being bombed aren’t “white”.
Left of Hitler, unless you disrespect their flag fetish.
Left of Hitler, until they come face to face with someone without a place to live.
Left of Hitler, unless they are forced to reckon with the reality of their country’s relationship with imperialism.
Liberals are only temporarily left of Hitler due to some minor exception that will let them quickly flip to full Hitler.
