What made Godzilla interesting was the subtext. Godzilla outside of Japan doesn’t make a lot of sense. Godzilla is explicitly a walking nuclear bomb. In Shin Godzilla, Godzilla is defeated by a competent government, a fantasy we can all enjoy.
In my opinion, the best Godzilla movie was Shin Godzilla (I’ve heard Godzilla Minus One is GOAT but I haven’t seen it yet).
