I knew they’d eat shit on this one in like 2019. Nintendo goes full hubris mode any time they see success, iwata and fils Aimee not being the evil ceos in charge and more hedge fundy guys taking over. I got a switch in 2021 knowing this all full well but there were enough games to make me want one by then. Things have only gotten to be more of a ripoff as time went by as well cause they had a giant hit and Nintendo always hits the squeeze and the evil ceos who navigated that issue sorta okay aside from the wiiu in the past and but managed the 3ds price crisis okay and did course correct before too much wiiu trouble happened. Hard to course correct when the console is already something thst works conceptually and is an iterative upgrade. Unless they try a wiiu2 when this fails. Also 1st party Nintendo slop has become more and more of a ripoff. Mario vs Donkey Kong or the DK Country wii game remake are easy example. My retired parents got the $50 gba HD remake and have had a great time, I’ve already played the original and cake walked the game when I borrowed it. Wouldn’t be worth a dime to me, add new levels, like double the count or more, which is easy, it’s a simple gsme and I’d have been okay to shell out like $40 or so.
2017, probably their best year
1-2 Switch (awful)
Breath Of The Wild (I say it’s technically not a port)
Arms
Super Mario Odyssey
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 2018
Kirby Star Allies (OK, I guess…)
Mario Tennis Aces (a borderline port)
Super Mario Party
Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu (quasi-remake of Red/Green) 2019
Yoshi’s Crafted World
Super Mario Maker 2 (again, basically a port)
Fire Emblem: 3 Houses
Ring Fit Adventure
Luigi’s Mansion 3
Pokemon Sword/Shield 2020
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Clubhouse Games
Paper Mario: Origami King
Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity (probably the only muso collab I don’t totally loathe) 2021
the Bowser’s Fury part of the Super Mario 3D World port
New Pokemon Snap
Game Builder Garage
Mario Golf: Super Rush (has no content)
WarioWare: Get It Together
Metroid Dread 2022
Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Kirby & The Forgotten Land
Nintendo Switch Sports (just barely edges into being not a port)
Mario Strikers (again, barely any content)
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
Xenoblade 3
Splatoon 3 (should have been a single-player expansion to 2)
Pokemon Scarlet/Violet 2023
Fire Emblem Engage
Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (again, should have been an expansion to the previous game)
Everybody 1-2-Switch! (stupid)
Pikmin 4
Super Mario Wonder
Detective Pikachu Returns
WarioWare: Move It! 2024
Princess Peach Showtime!
Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom
Super Mario Party Jamboree
Mario & Luigi: Brothership
Emi: The Smiling Man - Famicom… 2025
Metroid Prime 4?
Pokemon Z-A Legends?
And only a few of those are new games or even do anything new inside a long series of sequels.
I’d argue breath of the wild is for sure a port but Nintendo has hidden it by keeping the Ui in subsequent games even if it’s clearly meant for the gameplay touch screen. Wiiu breath of the wild has way less issue swapping arrows equipment and stuff cause you use the gamepad
A lot of these originals also fucking sucked or if good weren’t worth the price tag
I can’t wait on the inevitable excuses they make because they’re already promised their investors on the price and can’t change it.
I love late stage capitalism

So many Switch games are ports, remakes, bland musou games, and content-sparse.
Fuckin’ look at this list: https://www.lucklessheaven.com/nintendo-switch/games-us

People defending Nintendo jacking up prices “because it costs so much to make games these days” when they barely make any games in the first place.
billionth sequel, plus basically a more boring wario ware
