Another article about a town in Kansas that bought their own grocery store. It seems to have had success and motivated town residents to open up other stores and create programs. It sounds like it is also funded as a utility, so a monthly bill charged to the residents and they can shop for what the need.
Rural Kansas and Chicago embracing juche? We will see
Feeling hopeful about this!
Saaaame, crossing my fingers that: 1. They actually act on it and get it running and 2. that it’s successful, of course. With the ridiculous inflation in the past year or so this would be such a relief to SO MANY people. And really there is nothing like being able to access fresh produce. Obviously it’s very important for health reasons, but food is really important to me as a treat and it just improves my quality of life so much to eat fresh stuff.
A “Chicago Style” grocery store where it’s owned by the city but all items must be surrounded by a deep, flaky crust.
all items must be surrounded by a deep, flaky crust
it’s the culinary equivalent of a hug, and it is just as good for you ❤️🤗❤️
As much as i fundamentally mistrust social democracy, seeing it peek through American politics feels like a nice cold cup of ice tray water after a year in the desert
Seriously, any little crumb will feel like a monumental achievement; even the THOUGHT that a politician would be considering such a thing. Sad!
What if instead of city run grocery store it was an app?
That would really disrupt the food market
