sadly need to inform you that using the word “chick” has unfortunate misogynistic tones – why are we referring to an adult woman with the word for a baby animal?

excising it from my own vocabulary is a fucking challenge. it is in heavy use in my extended family and was one of my late sister’s favorite words, and learning how it comes across to some other women was a real bummer.
