You can get addicted to any pleasurable behavior. The main issue with behavioral addictions is who they actually hurt. Porn addiction may cause physical problems if it gets extreme, but the real issue with it will come from you not meeting societal obligations far before that happens (by not working overtime enough to make rent or making more workers as a good wage slave should). Thus, porn addiction is more of problem for capitalism than for the individual’s health.

Addictive behavior generally also causes issues with the addict’s personal life, including people who directly depend on them if there are any. It’s not just a matter of whether addicts make good wage slaves.

I don’t know. I’m pretty sure the porn industry is pretty capitalist… sometimes to a horrific degree. Porn addicts not being as productive or prolific as they could be is just…the cost of doing business?

It’s a problem for employers who want productive workers. The whole reason capitalists and imperialists care about mental health is that it impacts worker productivity, making them have lower quality laborers. Porn addiction has the added con of redirecting the sex drive away from having kids, who are future workers, soldiers and baby makers.

Pleasure without procreation creates dysfunction according to the worldview of exploitative ideologies, which is why conservative forces have long sought to discourage sex that isn’t making babies. They only value the machinery of reproduction in society, ignoring any value in sexual activity that they don’t intuitively understand. They hate gays because they think we never have kids, and they hate masterbation because it removes sexual frustration that they exploit to fuel their power.

Totally, but Capitalisn works both ways. If you make money from exploiting others/the planet, you are technically winning at Capitalism. It may not be a smart long lasting strategy at winning (as you point out). Capitalism only cares about controlling people in that it generates revenue. The time period for how long it produces revenue is up to the particular Capitalist, and what you’re describing is a discrepancy on how far out one should look. And yeah, Fascists have a lot longer view of things, which is why you’re seeing them trying to ensure the replenishment of their ranks with fresh bodies, by sacrificing a the very lucrative Porn industry.

It’s more the imperialists and conservatives in general who care so much. Many capitalists also value imperial prestige, even if it fell out of fashion recently. Government elites from China to Saudi Arabia feel similarly

Porn addiction is real and has real consequences.

      • Over sexualization of people around you
      • Objectifying people
      • Death-grip syndrome
      • Unrealistic expectations of sex
      • Body image issues
      • Interest in more extreme sexual acts
      • Disinterested in less extreme sexual acts
      • And other addiction symptoms that are not porn specific

And all of this without going into the very real issues of sexual exploitation and rape that is very common in the porn industry.

I’m not advocating for “purity” or whatever. But there real issues with porn that we shouldn’t ignore. There good sources for better porn though. Check out https://porn-better.com/en/
