Interesting point. I’m not sure of the record of publications acknowledging this.
It just means Twitter-style posting. Twitter came up when “blogs” were becoming a big deal, but its character limit meant it was like a “micro”-sized format of blogs. This is all from well before it had features like quote tweets, replies, and all that.

In this case there is a fan HD texture pack for RE4 which I played through completely last year. RE4 had never looked or played better, IMO. You can also find the base game with the HD assets assembled by fitgirl and dodi, but the project’s page is here https://www.re4hd.com/
In some cases I think these games are better played on PCSX2, anyway. With improved rendering resolution, save states, and the ability to play on any platform the emulator supports it sometimes just plays better or easier than PC ports.
EUROPEAN POWDER KEG
Didn’t realize how much I hate this expression until now.
I like to think that every time I don’t buy a product, even if I don’t pirate it or even know that it exists, I am doing equally as much harm as pirating said product. As scaled by the however much a copyright violation fine is apparently worth ($150,000), I am personally liable for tens, if not hundreds millions in losses for Nintendo with all their games and consoles I didn’t buy or play.
As for me? I’m building my new life with that value.
No, I get it. You’re God’s gifts to computers. Carry on.
I was being serious. I offhandedly expressed some excitement, in a comment I forgot I even wrote, about interviewing at a place that writes modern c++. Which, if you don’t know, c++11 and especially beyond has features to manage lifetimes, ownership, memory, and other important things just as Rust does (but it’s still C++, so of course it has all the baggage C++ must carry and a compiler that doesn’t enforce any of this).
But you rushed at the opportunity to be a complete ass about it and insult me for no reason. Presumably you also dismissively assumed I’ve never written Rust. Or that in 2024 the Rust jobs are so overflowing that I can just take my pick at one at my own leisure. As if my first preference is to write software in a language that still requires forward declarations.
Yeah. You had such a good point, though. I really would rather not have an income in favor of writing perfectly memory safe software that nobody uses. Surely you have advice on that?
Even with that factored in, Twitter is basically just an alternative social media arm for stormfront these days, so even bsky is a huge improvement to that.
Most C++ programmers don’t actually understand lifetimes or even basic memory safety.
Fingers crossed I get this job I’m applying for where they actually care about this.
I see. I guess this is using the established rule of “low-hanging fruit,” but that just made it sound like you cannot post things which can be easily rebutted. But it seems low-hanging fruit is being used to mean “things of low prominence/lacking notoriety”.
I find it funny that one of the lists is marked as “deprecated” …? The list author should’ve just deleted the list. It’s not like code where it gets deployed and breaks if you pull the rug out from others who use it.
To that end, we wish posts of reactionaries to be placed in !counterpropaganda@hexbear.net along with an accompanying explanation with the intent of countering the reactionary propaganda in the post body
I like the effort posts. When I was much younger and cruising the badphilosophy subreddit sometimes I’d get lucky when a comment actually explained the bad philosophy. it was illuminating at the time.
For the posts that are not “low-hanging fruit” we ask that you use !gossip@hexbear.net .
What do you mean by this? I can’t tell what c/gossip is meant actually meant for.
Edit: regarding the effort posts. I also appreciated the fact that /r/badphil was designed for just pillorying bad takes. It wasn’t a subreddit that was about “learning” (it had a specific rule against learning, in fact). It was just great when I could learn. I think there’s room for both. Effort, and vent.
I wonder if mainstream media will report this part of the story, or just the part where they get their backsides beaten.
Here is an article from a reputable newspaper. Don’t act surprised, but no. These chants were not mentioned. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/11/08/amsterdam-attack-israel-soccer-match-violence/
You can tell this is fake because the story didn’t involve the homeless guy having to fill out paperwork to receive the two pennies.
