We literally use a nailgun to kill cattle before slaughtering them.

chonkyninja@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Most people's earliest memories are at around 3 or 4 years of age, which correlates with the age kids start asking "why" for everything. Kids start asking why when they become self-aware.English4·8 days agoMy earliest memories were breast feeding, I wasn’t yet walking, and based on all the things happening around me the people, the birthday cake, etc, my mother and grandmother both confirmed I was only 2 months old. It was my great grandmother’s birthday, that was in August 1981. I still have photographic memories of my entire childhood, phone numbers, cars, people, news on the TV, everything. But that’s just me.

Travels 110 km costing $8 in fuel.English1·13 days agoYeah now add more batteries to double the flight range. 8lbs per gallon is 16lbs, versus like 2,400lbs of battery. The inefficiency goes through the roof.
They’ve had call screening for quite some time now, the on hold call stuff is new.

chonkyninja@lemmy.worldto Futurology@futurology.today•First electric passenger plane lands at JFK in milestone flight. Travels 110 km costing $8 in fuel.English8·15 days agoAssuming $8 for energy, let’s say $0.12/kWh you’re looking at 64kWH. That’s like 1kWh/mi, which is pretty fucking bad. There’s no way they’re scaling this up, because the battery has to weigh at least 1 Ton. So to double the distance you’d need to initially add double the battery, but that’s equivalent of adding 8 fat fucking Americanos to the payload, there by reducing the distance you can travel.
Meanwhile a Cessna Jet gets like 27/mi per gallon. So 2.5 gallons of fuel gets the same travel distance, and that only weighs like 20lbs.
Also, haven’t looked lately, but last I remembered, jet fuel was like $11/gal.
16? You mean 96?
