Zephorah@discuss.onlineto No Lawns@slrpnk.net•Food Not Lawns: the official site for the international movement of folks who want to grow Food Not Lawns!English1·23 小时前It’s a nasty species whatever it is. We have to burrow with our hands to pull out the roots. They appear to send runners, like mint or bamboo. We’re thinking of trying a sod cutter next.
We’re trying to keep the plastic to a minimum, though that’s likely a losing battle.
Zephorah@discuss.onlineto No Lawns@slrpnk.net•Food Not Lawns: the official site for the international movement of folks who want to grow Food Not Lawns!English3·2 天前The last raised bed, cardboard and fir chips underneath, filled last summer, was so tight with grass at the edges, when I tried to pull the grass out by the base a giant section of dirt 6 inches deep came with it. Roughly 1/6 the soil need replacing after that one pull.
There has to be a better way.

It’s worse than hedge bindweed and I don’t know what to do about it.

If you’re in a state with ballot measures, then you could campaign for rules against single family home HOAs.
Zephorah@discuss.onlineto Health - Resources and discussion for everything health-related@lemmy.world•'Hospital Crisis Watch' Tracks Healthcare Center Closures Under Trump-GOP Budget LawEnglish7·3 天前Don’t forget the venture capitalist factor. Your doctor’s office and your PCP are different, more rushed, now because of venture capitalists.
They’ve hoovered up many clinics and now force each doctor employed by those clinics to book themselves like an airport. No more free slots. Regimented 15min time slots, back to back. Anyone late to an appointment loses their slot and may even have to pay a “no show”/late fee. None of these decisions were made by front lines workers, they were all made by corporate owners of those clinics.
Outcome? People don’t get heard. Don’t address all their issues (they’re allowed one issue per visit, for max profit, in addition to there only being time for one issue during those tiny appointments). They hate their PCPs (instead of corporate) and instead flood Urgent Care and the Emergency Department for PCP problems neither UC or ED will solve. Thus, everyone gets sicker.

Walz broke that a little, freely calling people dipshits and poking at Vance with Reddit rhetoric. But it didn’t win so they likely won’t roll it out again.
It looks like their main strategy is to roll Buttigieg out in increments as their new face.
Meanwhile, Bernie and AOC are going their own way.

Zephorah@discuss.onlineto TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•The tea must flow.1·4 天前I’ve never been able to get past the first episode. Half the crew is bland and uninteresting, Mulgrew is better as Flemeth or that crazy prison chef, and that blonde guy should be tossed out an air lock.
My siblings tell me I need to watch it in order to witness the worst captain in Star fleet history, but I can’t make it that far.

I’m standing by my theory that the powers that be in this country want to prune We The People down, passively.
Zephorah@discuss.onlineto TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•The tea must flow.91·5 天前For the first time ever, I’m interested in watching and episode of Voyager. But just this Q episode.
The dislike of Hillary was deeply entrenched. When Bill Clinton was elected and Hillary was First Lady they worked on a preliminary plan for universal healthcare that was dumped. Hillary was involved in the drafting of the plan.
This was a time when the 24h news cycle, via CNN, was only on the cusp of getting started. The nightly news, still in full swing, said awful things about her. They said she should stay in her lane and, worse, that she should be picking out china and curtains instead. They sneered at her on air with great contempt. Not Fox. ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN. All 4 were outraged by her stepping out of line as First Lady.
I cannot imagine this pervasive attitude wasn’t present in the Boomer+ vote.
In addition, Malcom Gladwell addressed some pervasive societal issues in Season 1 of his podcast in an episode called The Lady Vanishes. He predicted her loss.
And if you watched the hearing, she used the same email format as Colin Powell.
It’s the hypocrisy that bothers me. Roast anyone who is out of line, either party, but instead they take a stance of overinflating things like jeans and the tan suit and then ignore serious indiscretions and illegal activity on the right.
Start leaving AirBnB reviews: minus one star for lack of duck.

It’s excellent advertising and promotion.
Let’s hope someone has the means to sue in civil court.
In addition, another doctor can put this fraudulent MD in front of the board, on their license, and see where that goes. This incident doesn’t have to end here.
