Yep. Many westerners already manage to be racists without having an excuse. An immigrant with views considered anti-west is going to be ostracized if they are lucky.

I’ve largely interacted with students and can say that my experience is the reverse. They have been either apolitical or quite pro-communism/pro-China.
Buttering hard to reach bread, probably.
You make a good point. Nationalism in socialist projects still deserves scrutiny.
Fascist and fascist adjacent nationalism tends to define the “nation” in a way that excludes and endangers entire demographics who often wield little power to begin with.
I’d argue that nationalism itself isn’t inherently bad though. Many anti-colonial movements are nationalist, and AES countries have nationalist traits.
I believe Stalin’s “Marxism and the National Question” wrestles with this but I am yet to read it.
I feel that. I wish I could be smug about dropping a childhood fascination for political reasons but it was never really interesting.
If you really wanted capitalism gone, getting rid of humans is a lasting solution. The tricky part is getting the humans on board with the plan.
It’s probably a lot easier to convince the humans to just do communism.
Unionise, strikes, mutual aid, and other forms of collective action that leverage the power of a group of people to their benefit.
Fights though? Where did you get that from?
If the only thing you know about Bolsheviks is that they are spooky skeletons, you might be convinced.
Hey now, just because we’re communists doesn’t mean we can’t have a dozen different brands of the same joke.
A three letter agency employee has just learnt about the process of elimination.
(Athel for short)
it would imply the “non-rogue” Russians are somehow better.
This “Good guys or Bad guys” logic is why libs keep simping for any nazi that has the same enemy as them.
Would these western leftists…
Yes. The western left loves the communists who were crushed.
You would hear “Stalin would have built a much better nation than Mao did.” Just like you hear about Trotsky.
One day I hope to see a map of Chinese flags around the US, but instead of military bases it’s just Chinese built infrastructure.
It needs a name. I think Gabe the Dragon suits it.
I’ve never understood how you could actually effect sparrow populations in rural China. I used to consider it one of the L’s of communism until I thought about the logistics of it.
You might be able to drive birds out of a densely populated city with a bit of effort, but Mao-era rural China? What?
So much talk about “understanding Marx” and yet they somehow miss the entire concept of Material Conditions.
Marx sure as hell didn’t think we’d see full communism spring out of an agrarian Russia in a couple of decades.
I’ll add that the word comes from “Ultra Left.”
Chinese “not a martial people.”
My guy, they literally wrote the book on war.
