  • even worse, the fact that they gatekeep it with the 4000 series for no good reason just goes to show that they turned from hardware maker to designer of walled gardens.

i think it’s way cooler how half a year ago i was able to use a mod for cyberpunk 2077 and mesa’s amazing gpu code to run ray tracing and fsr frame gen together on RDNA1 - which lacks hardware ray tracing acceleration, and at a time where cyberpunk didn’t have fsr3.

fuck Nvidia, making stuff like this impossible

  • honestly Ubuntu is getting too much shit by the Linux forum dwellers. it works great, is newbie friendly, and a lot of very specialized industry software, if they support any Linux whatsoever, it’s gonna be Ubuntu. I’ve started out with Ubuntu and if it wasn’t for them, i might not have sticked to it long enough to make it to arch by now

  • i think people can change in their teenage years by the forced interaction in a small social environment at school. but once they reach adulthood, anyone in need of further personal growth just isolates and festers in their ways, avoiding confrontations that could prove them wrong. here’s to hoping that you who scrolled this far down in this lemmy thread make an unlikely friend when you least expect it and become a little better than before 😎👍

the same freedom that affords him the ability to be a dumbass in public affords you the freedom to not be dead.

though i do get the worries that come with the extremism spreading out.

most social media anger is trying to fix problems that aren’t problems. meanwhile politicians get away not pivoting towards UBI. then we get more nationalists, and then we get more social media shitstorms. 😬 anyways, enjoy the ride everyone

i don’t get what’s going on in this comment section - are we going to be mad at some code for what a person says on social media?

i tried running Firefox on my 2018 budget phone and every https handshake takes 5 awkward seconds and it’s more like 0.5 seconds on brave. it’s open source, built in dark mode, and runs well for me. it’s not even a gut feeling thing, on Android this is objectively beating the competition within the privacy conscious space.

i believe COVID is as natural and genuine as the historically evident spanish flu - but even if someone exists who is too stupid to get it, I’m happily enjoying the fact that he has nothing to do with me

  • one of the few upvoters here 😂 this is mostly not wrong. most people don’t give a shit, don’t be mad just because you don’t like the truth. however, I’m still gonna blame billionaires, or by extension anyone with the mindset of trying to become a rich person. all of these rats actively undermine democracy using highly effective lobby campaigns. you can only blame the plebs to some degree. they’re stupid but also too stupid to fix it. meanwhile most people with higher education have no sense of compassion and just afford themselves a few more blissful years. we’re cooked, guys, time to finish what you wanted to do in life and get ready for the bad days 😂

  • that’s true but i think compared to most other consoles nowadays it goes a very sustainable path. valve does nothing to prevent you from running gog games, which are true digital ownership at least. i know physical media are the most tangible option in the moment, but in the long run blurays for example actually have a limited lifespan

  • i think it might be a problem with the design of the rest of the game, maybe too many distracting elements necessitate the yellow paint. in real life i can function without yellow paint. i used to be fine without it in games, especially hitman contracts for example. it could be due to graphical fidelity, which seems one of the reasons battlebit made such a surprise success in the military shooters. in modern games with too many 3d rendered objects you can’t see clearly what’s going on - in real-life you at least have depth information to distinguish things, it’s not all in the same plane in front of you.

however, i found the old hitmans so much more immersive. i really disliked feeling guided around as if it was a theme park in the latest ones
