I hope you can stay safe through this. My state is pretty good to veterans, but I don’t think it would pick up the slack if federal funding is slashed.

I’m a 100% disabled veteran. Two years ago I made the very stupid decision to change my gender identity with the VA, and my therapist just informed me on Friday that I can’t change it back because it’s part of a diagnosis. I’m really worried that either of those things, or the fact that I’m getting a degree through chapter 31 will end in a reduction or revocation of my benefits. In addition, I’m going through the process of getting diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. I’m really expensive for the VA right now.
Fun fact: ALS is more common in the veteran population
Florida started investigating him for this crime, which occurred in 2016, in 2019. In 2021 the House Ethics Committee started investigating, but they paused because the justice department was already investigating.
It’s a very confusing timeline

First time I’ve used a clue in a really long time. I still didn’t get it until I found the yellow one lol
I just like to get on everyone’s nerves and call it “that british fish sauce”
I was paying more six years ago for a run down 2 bed apartment outside of Seattle but still within the metro. That rent figure is more in line with my current mortgage payment, but I bought at what I thought was going to be a stupid time (interest is still higher than what I bought at).
Base model 2024 Crosstrek is 25k, and I could get about 8k for my 18yo car. I’m sure a dealership would sell it for the same that I paid 9 years ago, ~12k.

My advisor got her PhD in England, so I’ve been trying to get her help in navigating this. I specifically want to do a research PhD, so that narrows my choices a little. Something I don’t see mentioned much is networking. I’ve read a few studies that I can see myself doing, so I’m going to reach out to those researchers because my undergraduate research compliments their research.
There’s an exchange program called Erasmus that will provide a monthly living allowance. I saw another one that offered help with employment after completing the degree but I can’t find it now. That might have been university-specific.
A lot of our medications come from plants originally, and there are a lot of plants where I live with medicinal value. Willow is probably the best known because aspirin comes from it, and is very common in my area. The main thing will be teaching them which local plants have medicinal use, how to properly identify the plant (I have a dissecting microscope and a few identification books), and how to properly extract the compound that they want.
Steam distillation is a really common method for extracting essential oils, and it’s easy to do. Menthol can be extracted from mint this way.
Some of this is what I’ve learned in uni, but you can get somewhere by looking up the remedy you need in Google scholar with the scientific name of the plant you want to use. USDA plants has really good identification characteristics, so you don’t accidentally pick a toxic copy cat.
Planning on teaching the young folks in the friend group how to garden and preserve food, how to make simple medications, how to defend themselves. And I’m also planning to leave as soon as I get my bachelor degree to pursue a research PhD in another country. I’m in ecology and conservation, there’s no future for me here.
I grew up a little south of Myakka. A meter rise still puts most of the area under some water. Half a meter put my childhood home in a shallow moat, since it was raised a bit from surroundings.
Maybe you’re right, this won’t be a full time map. But it definitely will be seasonal and difficult to live in

How is this supposed to help those of us who live alone, don’t have many friends and zero family?

Montana voted red all the way down except to protect abortion. Just last year they had kids argue to the state Supreme Court that they have rights when it comes to the environment, and they won.
I have no idea what is up or down anymore

My bff and her brother were born here, but I’m extremely worried for them. A couple years ago DARPA approached her brother for the work he did on drone technology in college. I know her parents cut ties with their families in China when they moved here several decades ago, but that doesn’t seem like enough to keep them from being harassed at minimum.
