I assume its still defederated for the same reason they defederated in the first place. Beehaw has the goal of running a strongly moderated instance, and Lemmy.world had too many users for their moderation to keep up with them. They plan to re-federate when they have the mods and mod tools in place to handle that much volume.
Almost all of the data is certainly *somewhere *on the hard drive. It sounds like it was a write to the file system records that lost the record of where they are.

It’s not a feud, lol. Admins from all of them say they talked it out and they plan to re-federate in the future. Beehaw wants to be a heavily moderated instance, and lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works were growing faster than Beehaw’s moderation ability.
Go to beehaw.org/instances to see what instances are blocked and which allowed. I’m on lemmy.fmhy.ml, which I picked because it was a decent sized instance that was still federated by all the big instances. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

It’s an idiom in English (in American English at least, I can’t speak for the other dialects). “Nut” can be slang for a crazy person, e.g. “That guy’s a real nut.” Other variations are “nutters” or “nut case”. A “<topic> nut” is someone who is “crazy” about that topic.
Construction bots: if you place a blueprint for a building, if it is in construction range of a roboport, a construction bot is free, and it has the item to build it in a provider, storage, or buffer chest in the network, then a construction will go get that item and then build that building.
Moving to construction bots is transformative to the redesign and rebuild loop because you can deconstruct an entire area with a deconstruction planner and a sweep of your mouse, then paste down 6 copies of your new design with a blueprint in a few clicks and just let the bots do the grunt work, while you focus on design.
The two things that broke me out of restarting everytime I hit midgame were learning construction bots, and trying for the Lazy Bastard achievement. Since I did that, I’ve never felt like ending a run before rocket launch.
Not a computer game, but Cards Against Humanity did a Black Friday reverse sale and upped the price a good bit for a few days. They had to end it early when they sold out of their entire stock in about a day.
