To be frank, although the far right guy ‘won’ the election, winning just means his party got the biggest and 75% of voters didn’t vote for his party. The second biggest party is a leftist one. He managed to capture a lot of the normally way more fractured (center)right wing vote but the entirety of the (center)right wing vote didn’t grow. And as with all populist politicians he managed to capture the “I am angry so I want to vote against what’s currently happening” vote that unfortunately never results into people voting for a leftist party focusing on combating climate change. The shortsighted vote was his with blanket promises of putting Netherlands first, better hospital care, more housing and less immigration.

I honestly have no idea what it’s going to mean for the country in the near future. A lot depends on what kind of coalition he is able to form (if at all) and if he’s going to be able to push through the stuff that’s written down in his election program. Stuff like a Nexit I don’t think is plausible, stuff like a crackdown on migration is probably going to happen in some form since that was a broader theme in this election.

Even makkelijk scoren in de aanloop naar de verkiezingen, zo doorzichtig. Mooie timing ook, de dag nadat de staat Californië oliebedrijven aanklaagt. Ik hoop echt enorm dat Timmermans genoeg stemmen naar zich toe kan trekken met de GL/PVDA combinatie, heb een beetje het gevoel dat als het dit jaar niet gaat lukken dat we het dan wel echt kunnen schudden qua lange termijn/klimaatbeleid.

But if you want my opinion I think this is exactly the way they should be protesting right now. High visibility, on ‘the doorstep’ of the governmental buildings, non violent (unlike some other protests we’ve had lately by other groups) and only inconveniencing others.

Yeah because the only way to get to Scheveningen is to take that small piece of highway? How about any of the other ways leading into or around The Hague? They aren’t blocking access to The Hague or Scheveningen, there isn’t one singular road in or out.

It’s quite likely that our Parliament will pass a law similar to the UK to criminalize the blocking of infrastructure.

Dus als ik het goed begrijp is / was er een Telegram groep met als doel het verspreiden van haatdragende berichten en oproepen tot actie tegen willekeurige YouTubers/TikTokkers zoals deze Bradley? Hij is dus op basis van niets specifieks 3 jaar lang online en offline gepest door o.a. een 26 en 39 jarige man die 100+ km van hem vandaan wonen.

Een van de grote minpunten van social media is toch wel dat de plaatselijke debielen niet meer in relatieve isolatie staan maar met zijn allen Telegram kanalen op kunnen richten en mekaar op kunnen hitsen.

Onwijs knap hoe hij er zo over kan praten, wat moet hij een verschrikkelijke zware tijd hebben (gehad?).

Hoe werd dat verder afgehandeld? Mocht je gewoon weer aansluiten achteraan in een rij om het opnieuw af te rekenen of moest je een boete betalen?

Dit begrijp ik niet. Hoe kan iemand nou aantonen (althans op basis van haar verhaal) dat zij dit echt moedwillig gestolen heeft? Je kan iets vergeten te scannen, is mij ook wel eens overkomen. En het gaat ook nog eens om 2 bakjes sushi, geen pannenset die ze onder haar lange regenjas mee naar buiten smokkelt.

Winkels hebben het recht een diefstal zelf af te handelen en een bedrag van 181 euro te innen als schadevergoeding. De beveiliger zou de vrouw uitgelegd hebben dat ze kon kiezen tussen het betalen van een boete of dat hij de politie zou bellen.

Ik vind het absurd dat het kennelijk mag dat een winkel eigenaar je een boete op legt. Ik heb die stickers wel eens zien hangen van diefstal = 181,- boete maar ik ging er eigenlijk van uit dat dat opgelegd zou worden door de politie. Waarom zou je in zo’n geval dan niet zeggen bel de politie maar? Dan heb je in ieder geval een onpartijdige partij die naar de beelden kijkt.

Ik begrijp wat je bedoelt, maar naar mijn idee moest D66 niet regeren, dat is altijd een keuze. Ze hadden ook kunnen zeggen: dit kost ons teveel en zo zien we onszelf niet meer als de partij waar onze kiezers op gestemd hebben, laat maar zitten dat meeregeren. Dat had ik meer bewonderenswaardig gevonden.

Heb altijd GroenLinks gestemd, dus de kans is vrij groot dat dat weer gaat gebeuren:) D66 heeft naar mijn idee te weinig ruggengraat getoond de afgelopen kabinetsperiode, ik zou me enorm bekocht voelen als ik daar de afgelopen keer op gestemd had. Volt ga ik ook in de gaten houden, ik word steeds meer pro Europa omdat ik het idee heb dat daar (in ieder geval in vergelijking met Rutte 1-4) nog wel besluiten met langetermijnvisie gemaakt worden. Maar waarschijnlijk GL/PvdA als ik nu zou moeten stemmen.

Yeah this is the same for me, I go to the gym 4 days a week and do cardio for 2 a week at the moment. The habit is easier to keep if I go more often, at least for me. Then it’s not a matter of should I be doing something today but more of a is it gym or cardio time?

Just to clarify: Dutch government collapsed over the PM taking an unexpected hard stance on one of the aspects of the immigration policy, which he knew would cause the coalition to break. This is viewed as more of a political move by him than an actual case of irreconcilable differences within the coalition.

Yeah but if I were to meet someone new in person, I’d tell them my name. If I meet someone new on the internet where I have a handle, I wouldn’t want the company of the site I am using to actually know my real name. That doesn’t make my name a secret, more something private to me and those I choose to share it with. If a website then correlates my handle to my other behavior on the internet and finds say my name via Amazon shipping info or whatever, then that’s a violation of my privacy, not secrecy.

Maybe a name isn’t the best example, idk, but there’s an apparent distinction between something secret or private imo.

My name is not secret, lots of people know my name. My name is private, I want to share it with the people I want to share it with, not with everyone on the internet/every corporation I interact with.

I think that’s why data collection falls under the ‘privacy’ instead of ‘secrecy’ category for the most part.
