Oooohhhh. I see. Yeah, I tried the alt email thing after my site wide ban from reddit but they ended up banning that account after 3 days. I’m not going to push it. If they ban my ip, then my wife wouldn’t be able to go on reddit. Then I’d actually be in trouble.

Yeah, they definitely will if you rejoin the sub. I’ve been told they can also ban your email and ip if you’re really stubborn. Which I am, so better safe than sorry and just give up on reddit. It’s a cesspool like twitter.

Me too. Overzealous mods banned me for defending myself after getting attacked in comments. Then, the rest of my profiles also got banned. I chatted with the lead mod and apologized. I was unbanned and went back to the sub. Then Reddit permanently suspended all of my accounts for “using alternate accounts to avoid a ban.” I sent an appeal and so did the mod who originally banned me. But Reddit don’t care. I could easily set up another account, but that was years worth of posts and karma, gone. Fuck Reddit. Fuck Spez. I’m really liking lemmy though. Actually community driven instead of corporate owned.

Same here. Plus, my wife likes to send me reddit links. I won’t sign in and I deleted the app from my phone. I feel like a weight has lifted from my shoulders. I’m glad I learned about Lemmy.
