I’m migrating my account away from the main lemmy.world instance to lemmy.zip.
When I created my account I had absolutely no idea what federated meant (I’m still not sure I really get it) so I just made an account on Lemmy World.
But is it possible to change an account to another instance and keep the mod status on the communities I have on Lemmy World?
Well if you think saying woke is a bannable offence then I guess I hit a nerve.
Is that what the American Dream is?
Working and paying taxes but getting kicked to the kerb to die if you dare to get sick without insurance?
So we have decentralised versions or Twitter, Reddit and YouTube? What a great time this is.
Try criticising Discovery or Picard seasons 1 & 2.
Like this.
Discovery is closer to woke propaganda than it is Star Trek.
Be Constructive is too subjective to be the number one rule.
Discovery is terrible because it is too far removed from Gene’s vision.
To me that’s a valid point and constructive because it gives a reason I think it’s terrible. But to you it might not be however that doesn’t mean it should be removed. That’s what the up and down votes are for. Let the community decide instead of censoring people.
It isn’t very Starfleet of you.
I’d like to believe you but the modlog doesn’t support your claim. Posts have been removed today for no other reason than they are criticising aspects of an episode or show. That’s the beauty of Lemmy. Mods actions are public record unlike Reddit.
Look at the modlog. Yes some removals are justified but others are people criticising aspects of the show or writing.
A welcome opinion? All opinions are welcome. I personally don’t agree with what you said but I don’t have to. That’s the beauty of an opinion. It’s not fact, it’s an opinion. And we all know what they say about opinions.
There’s nothing wrong with the community. The mods however are the same mods from Reddit that banned me for saying that Star Trek Discovery is lower rated on Rotten Tomatoes than any of the series pre-2005. This was labelled as misleading and not constructive to a conversation about the rating various series have from users. When I sent a link with proof confirming my claim I was permanently banned.
I have more examples like people being banned for having the opinion that Kurtzman is the worst thing to happen to Star Trek but suffice to say the mods are the problem and 99% of the community are good people that are willing to accept criticism.
My community isn’t for my “mod authority” it is so people have a place to openly voice their opinions, likes, dislikes and above all criticism without the possibility of being banned because I don’t agree with them.
If someone thinks Discovery is peak Star Trek that’s great, I’m glad they enjoy that much. But also if someone thinks Discovery is the worst thing on TV then that is a perfectly valid opinion too and they should have a place to voice that opinion freely.
Also I’m not sure what you use to access Lemmy but if you use the website via a browser on mobile you can see the mod log. Some removals are justified but others like this one: “The part of confessing feelings was really badly done. It seems like no one in the writer’s room had a better idea at that point and then they ran out of time.” was removed 5 hours ago for “Not Constructive.”
It’s the person’s opinion, a valid opinion too that shouldn’t be removed because the mods don’t agree.
There’s always one that has to take things to the extreme in a pathetic attempt try and prove a point. 99% of people wouldn’t dream of posting the kind of stuff you just did to in an attempt to be what you obviously consider clever.
It should also not go unnoticed that this kind of pro-Nazi post was made here and not in my community. Please stay here.
They are the same mods from Reddit which are well know for their intolerance to criticism.
For point one my parents don’t even bother to read error messages. They just close them then phone me and complain the computer is broken.
I also don’t use Twitter and haven’t for many years now. Even longer for Facebook.
It’s the volume of person data it scoops up. I don’t understand why anyone would happily share that much information just to use a social media app.
Why would anyone voluntarily use it anyway?
I’m not convinced of the benefits of allowing third party apps on the iPhone. I used to have a Galaxy and the store was full of shovelware.
As long as I don’t have to keep a lightning cable just for my phone I’ll be happy. Everything else I have is USB-C.
I hope not too but if they do I’ll be hopping over the channel for French one.
So the 2027 iPhone should have USB-C and a removable battery as long as it’s bought in the EU. Luckily they’re all unlocked and it’s only 35 minutes on the train from England to France. Guess I’ll be getting my phones from France from 2027.
Guess it’s back to Reddit then.
