Honestly hate how 3rd wave ska pop became synonymous with the ska genre as a whole. I can promise that most kids don’t hear Leftöver Crack play when they get an extra cheese stick (but it would be pretty sick if they did)
Leftover Crack is a bit of an extreme outlier but RBF, No Doubt, etc. are still as close to real ska as bands like My Chemical Romance or Panic At The Disco are to real punk. Just 90s pop music with trumpets.

LoC are closer to RBF and MCR than they are to first wave ska, or even 2 tone.
