The heavier they go into the fan service the less I care about a character. Doesn’t matter how deep or interesting they are. It’s like a complete inverse. The more of one the less of the other. I’m not talking about interested in a sexual way either. I mean I simply stop caring about the character in general and when they are on screen I actively loose interest in watching the show. I want well designed characters thay have personality and plot points.
Fan service sucks. Can’t even watch Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex without gratuitous close-ups on the main character’s ass. Kinda takes me out of it.
Ironic that the manga displayed here has a rabid CP lover fanbase.
I don’t get why everyone dislikes fanservice
unless it’s done well (I can’t think of an example at the moment), I dislike it because it’s either pointless padding, actively undermines the character development, or is wildly inappropriate
Exactly. Story wise, it’s just filler. And it gets old very fast.
