And yet there’s one big exception, which is the threat posed to the U.S. by the People’s Republic of China. China has the capacity to defeat the U.S. in any extended conventional war, thanks to its domination of global manufacturing; soon, it may have the capacity to defeat the U.S. and all of its allies combined. At that point, what China does to the U.S. will be limited only by what China feels like doing to the U.S.
Also like, it’s a real “I don’t even know who you are” moment. China has a country of over a billion people; they have plenty to focus on inwardly. But they are forced to focus on far more in order to fight for self defense against imperialism. If the US was a place that kept to itself (I know that’s contradictory to its very origins, on top of all it has done since, but just supposing) what reasons would China even have to think much about its existence? I think it comes down to imperialists thinking that because their ideology says they’re the center of the universe, that must mean their victims think about them 24/7.
