Xenia, the fox girl mascot of Linux, was first designed in 1996 by Alan Mackey. She was meant to be an alternative to Tux, the official mascot.
She had fallen into obscurity, but was noticed by a Twitter user in 2019 and was redrawn as a fox girl. But as it turned out, Xenia was originally meant to be male! The original creator, Alan, was cool with this, saying “It matches the transition of a lot of the smartest, nerdiest Linux users I know” and “And sure, you made her trans!”.
So now we have a trans Linux mascot. And I think that’s neat.

That’s wonderful! It might prove frustrating to get that voice back but in my experience every time you do manage to find it, it gets easier to find next time.
I think I’m starting to get the technique down, it’s just a matter of continuing to practice and phasing out my old voice. I’m very socially awkward and very easily embarrassed when it comes to using my voice with any sort of effort, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to push through in groups of new people and slowly just get used to that being my voice with my old/now voice becoming the voice that feels weird to do. I’m very excited for that!
Awesome! I remember the first time I practiced in conversation withy best friend and she was really encouraging about it which helped a lot. Trans friends are also great for this, even if it’s just online on VC. I’m excited for you :3
