Hello again peeps, Alex here, the admin of PornLemmy. We’re celebrating one week of being online, and we’re going to share some nerd stats and fun facts with you.

When I decided to start PornLemmy, there seemed to be a void which needed to be filled: a porn Lemmy instance with a heavy bias towards vanilla content, and with very strict moderation so that it’s a safe and fun place for everyone. However, I didn’t imagine it would grow so much in so little time; thank you all, please excuse me if I don’t shake your hands – we know what you do with them.

According to Cloudflare, PornLemmy had 71.5k unique visitors in the last 7 days. You can see the growth curve at the end of this post, so far it seems pretty stable, which to me means that we’ve quickly reached most of our intended audience. There is the small dip in uniques for Saturday which puzzles me: are you watching more porn at work than at home?

Unlike LemmyNSFW, the biggest porn Lemmy instance, and unlike all the other small instances which I won’t name, PornLemmy does not require users to sign-up in order to view content. It was a strategic decision: we don’t want to force anything on you, it’s entirely your decision if you want to have a user here or not. Our expectations are that only content creators will sign-up, along a bunch of horny lemmings who want to comment how beautiful the poster’s eyes are. That is why there is a big discrepancy between visitors and registered users on PornLemmy. The good thing about this is that posts have just a few upvotes, meaning we won’t spam other non-nsfw Lemmy instances – we wish to avoid stuffing porn down user’s throats when they didn’t ask for it. The bad thing is that our visibility in the fediverse is low, but we’re totally ok with that; horny people will find their way to us organically.

When looking at time spent on the site, two very clear groups can be seen: the first group, who spends between 1 and 7 minutes on PornLemmy, and the second group who spends 15 or more minutes. It would be impolite for us to say anything about the first group, so we will address only the second one: hey ladies, how can we improve your bean flicking experience? Tell us what you’d like to see more, and what you’d like to see less. We’ve managed so far to keep degradation or humiliation content to a minimum – what else may we do to deliver you consistent happy endings?

Regarding content, so far we’ve filtered 608 communities and 2445 posts that were not appropriate for PornLemmy. Out of these, only 3 communities and 8 posts were local. We have also applied to USA’s National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which will make flagging and removal of inappropriate content automatic, so you the visitors won’t be subjected to distressing imagery if it’s ever posted here.

We were pleasantly surprised to see that posts containing only male nudity got so many upvotes and encouraging words (unlike some otheR place). A message to all women: please comment more and tell us men that you enjoy what you’re seeing, we really need a bit of male body positivity at this moment in time, and your opinion has a lot of weight. Message to men: show your junk more, women love it.

We weren’t that pleased with the amount of LGBT content. It’s very very low. If you’re part of this group but are a bit afraid to post, please keep in mind that the PornLemmy moderation team is very strict with disparaging comments.

When looking at what devices you peeps use, 75% visit us on phones, 16% with a browser, 7% on a tablet. Apple is a very clear brand leader with 35% of visitors, while Samsung and Google branded devices have 7.5% and 5%, respectively. If you can afford Apple devices, maybe you can also afford to spend $1 per month to help PornLemmy survive? Thank you :).

As a side node, we feel the best way to enjoy PornLemmy is on a browser. If you haven’t tried it yet, please take a couple of minutes opening a new incognito tab and checking out https://pornlemmy.com. Do let us know what you think, we’re still young and need a lot of user feedback.

Regarding visitor’s origins, 79.5% come to us directly, meaning you don’t follow any links to get to PornLemmy. 10% come from https://join-lemmy.org, 4% come from https://browse.feddit.de, and 1% come from https://lemmynsfw.com. Fun fact – for every visitor that comes to PornLemmy from LemmyNSFW, we send two of our visitors from PornLemmy to LemmyNSFW. The federation seems to work well so far, content is being shared freely between instances as it was intended. We also have a surprising entry: 0.5% of our visitors come from …… drum rolls………. Reddit. Oh how the turntables

That’s enough stats for now, thank you to anyone who reached the end of this message. Keep being naughty!

    Hi,

Those 3 communities, hosted on lemmynsfw.com, have content that doesn’t align with PornLemmy’s ideals/morals/whatever, and therefore they needed to be inaccessible from PornLemmy. There is no way (yet, at least), to forbid a community from appearing on the front page but still be available at /c/community@server. If modding tools will become more powerful in the future and allow this kind of fine tuning, you will get access to all communities everywhere, but until then PornLemmy must act on its own rules. With apologies to you in particular.
