    I mean, obviously…

If his dad wasn’t the president, he wouldn’t have written a book that essentially confessed to the crime.

But if Biden wasn’t being prosecuted, that would also be because of politics.

He broke a law, then admitted to it.

A reasonable person would be asking why the law isn’t being revised rather than why the presidents son is being held accountable for a crime he confessed to.

Mate, this is one of the few opportunities to have a frank discussion on why someone can get blackout drunk everyday of their lives can have guns, but someone who lives in a legal cannabis state is breaking federal gun laws for smoking a bowl after work.

Now, crack use is a little different, but I’d rather these laws be about “used/carried while intoxicated” rather than just possessing them.

But don’t count Hunter short, if he was running today it could be the exact same campaign as Joe and people would use all the same talking points to support Hunter.

Most people agree our choice of candidates has gotten worse over time for a while now, don’t just take for granted that the trend will reverse on its own.

Shit, for the last three elections the Dem candidate has been someone who has lost multiple primaries but was the spouse or VP of a very popular president.

I’m not gonna list a lot of examples, but it feels like nepotism being big in politics was accepted fact decades ago…

Hunter Biden could very well run for president some day

Look, this is America. We all agreed that if you want to break laws, you have to go to Louisiana or Nevada. He should have moved to one of our semi-autonomous lawless zones if he wanted to get fucked up and shoot a gun.

Gun dependency needs to be treated at every clinic. It’s getting in the way of cannabis use and everything else.

You think prior to 2016 nepotism hasn’t been an issue in US politics?

And someone agree with that and upvoted it?

            Because I said:

I’m not gonna list a lot of examples, but it feels like nepotism being big in politics was accepted fact decades ago…

Now there’s an autocorrect error in there, but I meant the last couple decades.

I mean, for fucks sake you think GW Bush became president on his own merits?

No, nepotism has definitely been a thing. Your original text made it seem like there’s been a long history of the Democrats having spouses (a singular instance for either party) or a VP (less concerning) being the candidate. It also made it seem like you considered it nepotism. VPs aren’t nepotism.

Could ya, though? I’m wracking my brain but can’t think of a single president who employed his family for stuff. There’s Mr Trump, but he’s the exception in so many ways.

"For nearly four years, Republicans have delved into the darkest corners of Hunter Biden’s life, seeking to tie his troubles to his father, President Biden. But as the younger Biden stands trial in Delaware on gun charges, the case’s glaring political contradictions have rendered the G.O.P. largely mute, from former President Donald Trump on down,” the New York Times reports.

“It stands to reason: The baseless claim that the Biden Justice Department is running a political persecution of Mr. Trump is somewhat undermined by the department’s prosecution of the president’s son. It is also hard to make much of allegations that Hunter Biden lied about his drug use to purchase a handgun when your party is sponsoring legislation to ease gun-purchasing restrictions for veterans struggling with mental illness, not to mention the case before the Supreme Court that could allow domestic abusers to buy firearms.”

From what I can tell he is being prosecuted because he bought a gun when he was also taking pictures of himself smoking crack. Like most criminal types he is a real brain trust.

they had a plea deal that… politics intruded on… causing Hunter to decide to change his plea

Basically, this is the kind of charge that sees almost no major consequences for and is usually plead out to something like probation or a fine, but partisan hacks decided to try and make a name for themselves.

The charges that Hunter Biden is being tried for are also never prosecuted without there having been an incident resulting in a “primary” charge.

I am not saying there isn’t politics involved, all I am saying is he was smoking drugs and bought a gun. The frequency of prosecution does not change the fact that it’s against the law. If I am not mistaken, I am often mistaken so correct me if I am, he took pictures of himself doing drugs that have landed him in this particular circumstance. The question was “Is Hunter Biden being prosecuted because of politics?” The way I see it politics is a causal factor, not the root, the root is he wasn’t smart enough to put the camera down when he smoked his dope and created a paper trail by buying a gun that then allowed for some partisan hacks to make a name for themselves.

And they had a plea deal in place. That got upended when said political hacks decided to make a name for themselves and change it.

It was (mostly) apolitical, and then it became a thing. The current prosecution is entirely political.
