Economy itself is a very intrinsic part of politics, people claim it’s a “technical field” but at the end of the day the whole objective it’s quite political in nature.
That being said I know what you mean, not explicitly and actively involved in political debates and such. To that end I agree with . @ComeradeSalad that spoke here before me, that science and health sectors are pretty fucked, a huge part of videogame industry is being fucked up too. But I think everywhere got worse with capitalism, in particular recent capitalism.
I think you mean commodification, the process of turning stuff into commodities, commodities being stuff made with the intention of being sold.
Art, knowledge and software come to mind.
But ultimately, every industry will be worsened by the monopolist stage of capitalism even if many industries were indeed improved by the early capitalist stage.
That’s a good point so I referring to the commodities that appeal to multiple demographics and aren’t seen as inherently political like a video game other media and technology and infrastructure etc.
I’m not sure what you’re asking exactly, given that capitalism created industry in the first place. If not for the Soviet Union and other AES states, I’m not sure we’d have anything to compare capitalist industry/products to.
Also I’m not sure what a “political industry” or a “political product” is, so I’m not sure what you’re trying to exclude.
Well I mean capitalism has worsened the industry’s products over the year’s previously they were better or as seen as better. I guess by political industry I could mean politics itself or the Defense industry which is an industry inherently political since in takes a side in a war. Also political products could refer to political branding like maga hats and other political symbols and ideas put on products. In conclusion I need to make my titles simpler so I don’t need a paragraph to explain myself lol.
Contention over the definition of political, it’s been popular to say everything is political (or more accurately, all social relations are political), but with little explanation of what that means. My one sentence definition is for something to be political is for it to be engaged with (viewed or used) through the lens of power.
Good faith answer, any capitalist product that sells itself on reliability and durability. Doc martin’s to hiluxes. These are long term qualities that are distant from time of purchase, so it’s easy for such a brand to coast on reputation for a long time before it fades while production is cheapened. There are counter-examples which tend to be boutique or in a niche industry, or maybe it just hasn’t happened yet.
