      Oh, so you can’t see downvotes at all? I thought you just couldn’t downvote things yourself, I didn’t know you couldn’t see them at all.

      Sounds nice tbh. The Lemmygrad struggle session elected to keep the downvote, but I think it is not just pointless, but actively detrimental to online discussion.

        Yeah i’m pretty sure our number is literally just the upvotes number, without downvotes being taken into account at all. Like I know lemmy will have upvotes 5, downvotes 2, and then the number at the top will be 3, but for us I’m pretty sure what we would see is 5 at the top, with no acknowledgement of the downvotes.

        Yeah after we decided to do away with downvotes I was a little skeptical, but ultimately I think it was a great decision and has made the online experience so much better

          The only thing I find it useful for is seeing how many libs read just enough of a comment to find out I don’t agree with them. Which isn’t super useful at all tbh.
