I must need to read the book to get it because like the person above you I just couldn’t get with the story it was telling. I agree it was a well done movie and wanted to like it, but I found my attention drifting frequently when I saw it.
Shit adaptation, honestly. It’s an adaptation in the sense that the writer of Ad Astra read the book synopsis once, and used that as part of his inspiration. Apocalypse Now is a way better and more direct adaptation.
It’s a space adaptation of Heart of Darkness. I thought it was incredibly well done.
