      True that. Still, it was bent in such a way to have the volume buttons jammed up.

      Proper fix would have taken like an hour to remove the touchscreen, disassemble it, bend it back straight, and reassemble it.

      I looked at it and took my chances, knowing the touchscreen digitizer layer only cost $7 at the time. So I was like screw it, lemme try this cheap trick instead.

      I put it face down on the bench, with a piece of paper to hopefully protect the screen. I put a piece of wood on the back side and smacked it with a mallet.

      Worked perfectly, plus I got to go to lunch about an hour earlier.

      Given the piece of wood I used to cushion the blow, I probably could have used a hammer instead 🤷‍♂️
