I pop in to this Lemmy community every once and a while hoping for new content or discussions, but there is not a ton of activity. I ended up finding the FreeCAD discord channel and it seems to have a ton of engagement/activity, so I wanted to share. (but still post here, I would love to see this community become more active).
Also, the users on the discord are super helpful…like, insanely helpful. I am still learning, so it has been priceless for me (along with MangoJelly on YouTube)
for freecad specifically, you should check out https://forum.freecad.org and if you’re interested in architecture you should definitely check out https://community.osarch.org
why not IRC? or matrix?

Correct. I was struggling with a design …(I am very new to cad) I normally would have gone to reddit, but since I quit reddit with the drama, I came here. Not much going on so I had to look elsewhere. I didn’t make the channel, I think it is an official channel. Maybe…? Regardless. They have helped me a ton. One of the users actually recreated my design the “proper” way so I could achieve what I needed.
It’s bridged to Matrix. Not sure about IRC but I think the libera.chat bridge is gone.
I’m having trouble finding a discord link that works, this one and the ones in the official forum all don’t allow me to join…
