valid! so here’s my context: when i want really good bbq i got a place that i love and trust nearby and i’ll always give them my business because i’m glad they exist and want them to continue to thrive

    but

    sometimes

i just really want that specific pulled pork

it’s kinda like how sometimes i’ll crave the quesadillas from taco bell. no other quesadillas will do. i’ve tried making them. even when they were good, they scratched a completely separate itch from the one that THOSE ones do, you know? it just hits different.

and at 14 bucks for 32 ounces, that one hell of a deal. everything else comparable is closer to 8 or 9 dollars per pound.

now, it is not impossible for one to smoke one’s own pork, and then shred it.

except when i try to prepare food, there’s a nonzero chance i’ll accidentally burn pouring myself a bowl of cereal

and the amount of time it takes to set up, cook, process, and clean, if i were clocked in at work i’d be able to afford thrice as much of the prepared meat.

    time is valuable.
