Still a long way to go to be considered a “free speech absolutist”.

He has failed since the start on that front.

I’ll start considering his claim of being a “free speech absolutist” when he unbans the account that uses publicly available information to track his private plane.

His aircraft took a 9 minute flight. Elon was not necessarily on board. Sometimes aircraft are moved for logistical reasons.

Funny, I never hear of large commercial airliners making 9-minute flights for logistical reasons? What logistical reason would that be beyond ‘Elon doesn’t want to travel all the way to that airport when there’s a closer one?’

Aircraft are moved all the time for logistical reasons. These are known as “empty leg flights”.

For example if you will fly from Chicago to NY, but your charter plane will arrive and disembark in Milwaukee. After disembarking, it will take a short flight empty between the two airports.

And all of this is transparent to the passengers. It’s not like the charter company says, “Hey if you meet the plane in Milwaukee you can save us the fuel”. Kind of like when you call a taxi, the dispatcher doesn’t tell you how far the taxi had to drive empty in order to pick you up.

Yes, from Chicago to New York, fine. This is from one airport in the San Francisco area to another airport in the San Francisco area. Give me the logistical reason for that.

Elon arrives at one airport. Someone else wants to use his jet, departing from a different airport (Elon isn’t the only person who uses that aircraft). The plane is moved empty from one airport to the other.

Someone start telling him how much of a badass Tom Cruise is for doing his own stunts.

“Elron, Tom Cruise can ride a motorcycle off a cliff and pop a parachute! Can you do that?”

So if I could slap an ankle bracelet on you and upload your location with a five second delay, on a highly accessible public forum, you would be okay with that? Haha.

Someone on Twixer saying, “Trans people are disgusting and they shouldn’t be allowed in opposite sex bathrooms” Isn’t the same thing as, “Here’s where Elon’s private jet is currently. Lawl”

Some of you got mushed dog food for brains.

Locations on ankle bracelets are not publicly available information. The FAA tracks every plane over U.S. airspace and offers that information in real time because it isn’t classified. All the Twitter account did was take the specific information offered about Musk’s plane and reported on where it went.

So you are not talking about anything even remotely equivalent. This is information anyone can find out any time they want.

Exactly right. Not only that, but Musk’s location is not the same thing as the location of Musk’s plane.

So instead of ankle bracelet, a better analogy would be, “What if you took the #34 bus to work, and I started reporting the real time location of the #34 bus on Twitter?” My answer would be, “Be my guest”.

The thing about absolutism is that it doesn’t leave room for nuance. If you say you’re a bodily autonomy absolutist you need to deal with the fact that some people will wish to hurt themselves and that’s included. Free speech absolutism includes doxing, it includes everything. It’s saying “if someone can physically say it, I support their right to do so.” And if that sounds like an insane position to take, yeah usually absolutism is impractical at best and lunacy at worst. We know that what he wants is a platform where bigotry is welcome. We’re just presenting the reality of what it is that he claims to be.

Every time I fly my plane with my pilot’s license I strap an ankle bracelet “on” (I admit I have to turn on my ADSBlol ) and upload that location with a 5 second delay on one of the most popular websites for aviation.

FlightAware tracks all the flights that I’ve ever made and there’s an app for it.

Why do you think this is a problem? You might have dog food for brains… 🤣

You’re missing an entire point here. If the law indicates what you’ve said, then I don’t get a say in if I’m okay with it or not. And if I honestly didn’t like that, and this is the entire point, I would seek to have the law changed.

If Elon honestly hates the FAA’s reporting requirement, instead of picking on someone who is just using the information, he should seek actual legislation to have it changed.

That’s the entire point. Elon is just picking on a person with the tool Elon actually has control over. Elon isn’t actually seeking meaningful legislative change.
