The update that made high pressure gas vents Industrial Machinery made my normal rocket cabin layout break. Three extra morale per cycle is nice, but I think I can do better. I’ve always set a target pressure of 4000g to keep the oxylite from off-gassing, but maybe its time to rethink that and use normal vents.

Anyone have a design they really like?

normal view of rocket co2 scrubbing in ONI ventilation view of rocket co2 scrubbing in ONI

This has been my goto design for a while. The mini pump is set up so it only pulls from the bottom level of tiles to maximize the chances of it sucking up C02. Then the duct does a loop so it can pass by a gas pipe element sensor that tells the high pressure gas vent to release O2 back into the cabin while closing for everything else so it continues out the gas exit port.

I recently started adding a pressure sensor set to turn it off if the cabin air pressure drops below 1000g. That will let CO2 in the lower tiles push O2 up and concentrate it a bit. It’s bought me a few extra minutes before suffocation.

Nice, I’m gonna try this next time. Even though I have almost 800h in this game, most of it was on the base game. I’m still figuring out things like space exploration and nuclear power. Also, are your dupes wearing a space suit the whole time or are you taking them off manually?

I usually start by having them go into the rocket with the suit on, then I manually remove it. The suit is a good backup air suppy if you misjudge your O2 supply.

Once I have my space industry set up I’ve done this with my last couple colonies.

That way dupes go in and out without suits at all, using the transit tubes to get there in the first place. Only the cabin is accessible without a suit, the dupes adding diamond or replacing modules are all suited up.

Yup, timer. I delay the gantry by 25 seconds for rad and petroleum rockets, and 30 seconds for hydrogen. But if the transit tube isn’t working the dupe(s) may exit the rocket and just stand on the (still very hot) gantry long enough that they’ll get scalded by it. I had that happen once… that how I learned that transit tube was under powered.
