I think I heard a trans man saying that this form of transphobia (erasing trans man) is rooted in homophobia :

From the POV of men :

      • you meet a girl, and suddenly she has a sickdick so it is gay because dick.
      • You would not hook up with a guy, even if he has a vagina because you don’t know in advance.

Now for the POV of woman :

      • terf exists
      • trans men are traitors, they just want to enjoy patriarchy so they should be forgotten.

At least, maybe trans men can enjoy this legal stuff, contrary to the island

From my perspective trans women seem to attract more vitriol than trans men at least in the media / at the macro level

A gender studies professor could have a field day breaking down the way the patriarchy plays into this on both sides of the equation I would imagine

I am an outsider though and know very little on these topics (other than to just be cool to people)

In the case of India probably they are more present in daily life. I’m not Indian and I’m quite ignorant of Indian culture but I don’t think there’s a masculine equivalent of the hijra (in terms of participation in social life as a group). Might not be The reason, but might play a role. But again, seems that everywhere in the world trans men are more invisible so I don’t really know.
