Why has the USA allowed China to become powerful? That war could have been fought earlier with a much bigger technological lead.

Outsourcing to China was making US capitalists so much money that they didn’t want a war that would cut that off.

The party showed that they were in control. #2 is possible but requires that the elite mistakes money for power.
