      The main issue was takes like “The Ukrainian army should station itself in forests instead of defending cities so that Russian bombardment would not hit civilians”. Anyone with a single strategically thinking brain cell of course readily sees that if you’re not defending cities, the Russians would’ve been free to Bucha everything.

      They somehow misunderstood the “no human shields” thing as “you can’t be near civilians, ever”. You need to be close to civilians if you want to protect them from massacres. How else are you supposed to do that, with telepathy?
