More importantly Chinese cars don’t get safety tested by the DoT in the US, so they legally can’t be registered to drive on public roads. Otherwise there’s a fair number of people who’d just eat the cost and import one with the tariffs and still end up with a cheaper, better car than buying a new American-made one.
