The Brazilian Right hasn’t found a successor to Bolsonaro either. We’re all lost, really, politics is meaningless, the so-called left does right wing stuff, the right wing panders superficially to the working class, up is down, down is up. I have zero hope of seeing any meaningful change in my country’s political class during my lifetime. There is pretty much no expressive political left in Brazil.

It’s a big bag of “Oops! All Liberals” and we have to eat it and be glad our latest coup plotters were stupid enough to take the proverbial notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy, or else we could have been living in the world’s dumbest military dictatorship where the ruling class has both the temperament and intelligence of a rabid Bully XL.

tarcisio is kind of looking like an option for them, a winnable one. pablo marçal looks more like the now classical brazilian fascist, but i don’t think he has a chance just yet. i trust the fascists will always have at least one viable option, though.

do you think we can get someone remotely center-left with fighting chance in there for, say, 2030? because i dont really think so. i can see another pretend-left term from lula, at best, then all downhill…
