Grayjay
YouTube patched via ReVanced, then browse without login.
On desktop, YouTube with uBlock, then browse without login.
archive.org videos section
Youtube via RSS feeds.
How do you do that?
Freetube if you want to watch YouTube without algorithms.
I feel like we need to get away from Gulag’s servers in general tho. They’re closing in on the likes of Freetube.
Seconded. You subscribe to channels you like, and your feed is just the newest videos first. Plus built in sponser block.
Pretty much just Peertube.
I just use YouTube and only watch my subscribed channels. I don’t bother with recommendations
Use the NewPipe app or one of its forks. It shows only videos from your subscriptions.
This. It’s gone down for a few days here or there. But then updates and it’s all good. You can even watch shorts from the creators, although it’s like watching a short video (can’t scroll through them in succession as far as I know).
You can subscribe to youtube channels with rss, that way you don’t have to log in a d you have a chronological list of uploads of channels you’ve chosen.
I found freetube helpful. You can subscribe to Channels directly in freetube. I am a bit unsure if it stops the algorythm completely.
Yeah, I thought of getting into grayjay instead, but the android app seems very unstable and slow for me, maybe I’ll try tweaking ReVanced for a similar result instead.
You could just hide the home tab and default to the subscriptions. And I think you can also hide recomendations but Im not sure about that.
Check out the pinned posts at !peertube@lemmy.wtf for a list of PeerTube providers and content creators to follow.
Odysee
Grayjay on Android. Ad-free, no algo, and no shorts. There’s a section that shows you like the top 10 hottest videos on the platform, but in the subscriptions tab it has all the latest from who you are subbed to.
There aren’t any because all ways of displaying any data at all involve an “algorithm”. There are no “algorithm-free alternatives” to anything at all except not using computers at all.
Maybe think about what you’re actually trying to ask, then ask that question again.
With New pipe I only see the channels I subscribe to. There’s no home page, I just go to the list of channels and check if they have any new content.
I don’t see how an algorithm comes into play when I’m manually subscribing and going through the list.
While you may be right, it’s irrelevant if you say it with such a tone. Additionally, it’s quite clear OP means predatory forms of algorithms.
Just say you didn’t understand what the guy asked. It’s fine.
I suspect OP wanted to know about a video platform where they were not getting any automated recommendations that they hadn’t chosen to follow… my point is, chronological sorting is still an “algorithm”.
Ah, so you did understand, you just wanted to make him feel bad.
