Like the title says. I have 2012 Moka Express and the stamp in the bottom says “10” but can’t seem to find 10 cup version anywhere.
I believe the 10 stands for 10 fluid ounces which is the volume of a 6 cup moka pot according to this guide https://fullcoffeeroast.com/wp-content/webp-express/webp-images/uploads/2021/04/Moka-Pot-Size-Guide-Choosing-The-Right-Moka-Pot-By-Size-FB2-1-min-1536x922.png.webp
Fluid ounces on an Italian made moka pot?
Mine is a 3 cup version and has “X17” on the bottom so I don’t know that 10 is the size. That base is definitely larger than mine. Fill it to just below the safety valve and measure that. Mine is right around 130ml
Mine seemed to be 6 cup version. It holds about 300ml of water and the gasket was 71ml in diameter :)
Just to add another data point mine is the 9 cup version and I can’t fully make out everything on the bottom but there is definitely a “2” so doesn’t seem to be size related. Up until today I had no clue there was anything even on the bottom. Makes me wonder what it refers to.
id guess these are probably inscrutable manufacturer identifiers like die/mold numbers
Yeah it’s seems to be something else. And oh is it bugging me now when I don’t know.
How much fluid can it hold, if you measure it?
Capacity 1 cup: 60ml, 3 cup: 130ml, 6 cup: 250ml, 9 cup: 410ml, 12 cup: 775 ml
I will try this. Do you fill it up to the safety valve or to the top?
Filling it to the safety valve it holds little over 300ml of water. Filling it to the brim it will hold about 440ml of water.
Edit: 6 cup version seems to be 300ml in size not 250ml. Also the diameter of the rubber matches.
I’m still confused what the stamp means, even though it doesn’t matter.
