there’s a sort of “nobody criticises where I live except me” attitude. I’ve seen people who regularly say they hate the town they’re from suddenly become stauch defenders of it when someone from the next town over dares to say anything bad. They can’t inject that shit from americans it has to come through brits or the natural reaction to it most will have is defensive.

that’s universal human trait, i’m afraid

Me, when talking to communists: Stalin made a lot of mistakes and we should avoid them in the future.

Me, when talking to liberals: the only mistake Stalin made was stopping at Berlin.

really? i constantly see shit unprompted from america thats all “USA NUMBER 1!!!” “best country on earth 🇺🇸🏈” “philly best city 🙌🙌🙌” “#texan pride” “east coast represent!” and so on, its pretty much a universal stereotype of usamericans. you never see that sort of shit in the UK. is it maybe a generational usamerican thing or it’s only in the media or something?

the only exception to this that i’ve seen is “can’t have shit in detroit”, which i’m lead to believe is mostly racism.
