I can’t decide where I stand on these. They’re a gorgeous kit of course but kitbashing unique and esoteric models was kind of the point of the inquisition for me. I bought a kit but haven’t used any of them in game apart from the servitor, which fine servitors can get away with being mass produced and characterless (and also previous servitor kits are garbage).

Seems emblematic of the direction of 40k: higher quality product but less encouraging of actual hobbying and identity. Lovely minis and photos though thanks for sharing!

I’m personally huge into scratchbuilding and kitbashing (so much so that my own blog is named for it) so I understand the love for it.

I don’t see a problem with high quality out of the box kits. Some people want to just paint, and at the very least it gives scratch builders some reference material to draw from.

Any particular attitude about excluding scratch builds or conversions from play, and only allowing official models is a different matter and I’m 100% against that. But somebody just owning and showing off their cool and well painted minis just somebody hobbying.
