    “By the way, NATO is dead, and we will leave, we will quit NATO,” Trump also said, according to Breton. “And he added, ‘and by the way, you owe me $400 billion, because you didn’t pay, you Germans, what you had to pay for defense,'” Breton said about the tense meeting, where the EU’s then-trade chief Phil Hogan was also present.

    I recall many conversations with people who insisted Trump never indicated he would pull out of NATO.

    “Nato is dead” is same kind of announcement as “US is going to be renamed to Trumplandia and will be property of Trump organisation”.

      Stop giving him ideas that seem dumb and useless because he will run with them like scissors. Do we forget trying to use a sharpie to redirect a hurricane or nuking the hurricane?

      It’s going to be… “The United States of America”, because US spells “us”.

      I can’t believe he invented that really. A true genius of all time. The smartest and most inventive person there has ever been.

    What the hell is he talking about? Spending 2% of our gdp for defence this year? Can that moron not read a calendar? (obviously not): The year has only just started. And even if we don’t: we didn’t agree on paying the difference to Mr Trump.

    Politico belongs to Axel Springer and should be treated with as much caution as something from Murdochs media empire. However it is obvious that the Republicans do not even want to send aid to Ukraine, which had US protection under the Budapest Memorandum. No way they send American soldiers to die to defend Europe.
