Is the word “slams” appropriate in this context?
This is not fucking WWE hell in a cell, this is them fining them for breaking the law.
A slam would be the “value of the company”, not a small percentage of the money they made off of breaking the law.
You can fine Amazon $130 million.
To “slam” Amazon you got to hit them with 130 billion dollars
I lose all respect for any source that uses that damn word anymore
Slam, blast, etc. It’s gotten REALLY old and stupid. It also means nothing. “Slam” in this context is at least something tangible. “Slam” in another context could be a critical post on Twitter.
President Biden SLAMS Trump by saying he was not all that good at his job

Especially the WWE
I have a general policy to not read any article with “slam” in the headline.
Should probably be “slaps”. That’s more commonly used when talking about penalties and fines.

At least it’s not “hits at”
Slam blocked by uno reverse card apparently
[quote]The order, which also imposes a $10 million civil penalty judgment, has been suspended due to XCast’s inability to pay.[\quote]
Lawyers hate this one trick.
“Pay the fine”
“I can’t”
“Not-guilty, scam more people until you can pay”
