It was the same for GTA5 a decade ago or so. Same with GTA4. The trailer for a new GTA is a big thing.

Reality
I love all the exaggerated future console names at the bottom, then PC is just PC.
When are we getting a PC 2? It’s been decades.
Quantum PCs are just around the corner. We swear!
Plus another few years to wait for the Ultimate (Totally Complete This Time, For Real!) Edition to go on sale for $4.99.
I’m totally not going to get hyped for that. GTA 5 is so long ago, we don’t know if they still know how to make good GTA games. The online part will be infested with grind and microtransactions, so I only care about singleplayer.
I’m fully ready to be disappointed and see it become an MMORPG.
Kinda feel like something big will come with this game. Something innovative.
So im ready to be disappointed when its just GTAV reskinned

When has a Rockstar developed game let you down?
I was personally disappointed with GTA V, and a lot of people were disappointed by the GTA Trilogy remaster (not Rockstar-developed, but they are responsible).
RDR2 Online was pretty meh.
If I could say GTA had an online at release I’d add that too. Granted, GTA Online only started getting good after a couple years of work got put into it.
The base single player games were incredible though. But I do agree on both of those.
GTA IV was a major letdown coming from SA. Also GTAO is a bad joke. It’s always been shit, from the terrible architecture and netcode allowing rampant cheating, to the ages-long wait times for the simplest thing requiring matchmaking, to the “economy” in MP being completely ridiculous, to the shart cards.
I’ve only played SA, IV and V to any real degree. V’s singleplayer is fine, but it’s not like Rockstar is infallible - even when Take-Two is not twisting their arm to make it even shittier. Take-Two is a whole different story.

Idk, I thought it was solid. I loved the more realistic driving, mood of the city, and the story. The whole thing was fantastically done IMO, and I like it way better than GTA V (I hated the characters and was bored by the story).
That said, GTA SA is the goat.

It’ll be good after “substantial additions” to the game’s story mode are promised and then forgotten. They’ll have all the bugs worked out by then.
