As someone who absolutely adores the original animated film, I’m highly skeptical of this one already just by the fact they have to announce the “voice actors”. I just found out about it and it’s already on my “Do Not Watch” list.

For some reason, I get the feeling that this is going to be mediocre.

IMO an Animal Farm adaptation needs to be different and based on the casting this seems more like a typical animated production.

    I hope I am wrong.

Just looking at the visuals you can tell the tone is off. This is not a cutesy story with teacup pigs

Tbh they should be doing Animal Pound, the recent updated retelling of Animal Farm in comic form. Was actually really good.

Getting banned by both American conservatives and the Soviets means you’re doing something right, but it was never supposed to be that deep. The only thing that surprises kids when they develop some critical thought is the realization that the pigs acting like humans doesn’t justify the existence of humans, it just means you need to make twice as much bacon.

Lol, not really. Idiot conservatives will always ban shit for stupid reasons. Soviets banned stuff that was intentionally trying to stoke fascist uprisings in their country, which is what Orwell wanted.

Also using the term “critical thought” when praising animal farm is pretty ironic, lol

It’s a classic, but not exactly what the world needs right now. The Orwell adaptation he should have done is 1984.

Yeah, not sure we need to know about the dangers of communism while capitalism is tearing apart society, but we all know who finances these productions.

Animal Farm is pro communist. Did you read it? It warns of the offpath idea of Stalinism.

This… this doesn’t counter my comment. An offpath of Stalinism is still within the scope of “dangers of communism”.

My main point was that we don’t need that movie right now anyway. We need a Captain Planet reboot or a new FernGully or a Lorax that isn’t shilling SUVs.

Hell yeah. Love to look to the anticommunist snitch for guidance during a time when increasingly unhinged fascists are coalescing worldwide and dragging us all into climate apocalypse and WW3

I wonder if the colonial cop could ever bring himself to hate Trump, were he alive today. Never quite managed it with Hitler. Had a lot of smoke for the guy who beat Hitler though. I’m sure those are unrelated. :thonk:

Yeah, I’m glad us leftists can agree that criticizing the people who beat Hitler - like Churchill and FDR, great men of history - is it self a damnable offense.

Idk I think leave this guy in the past. He’s a relic of the Cold War. We don’t need that propaganda anymore. There’s so many other, better dystopian fiction books out there that haven’t received their “definitive” adaptations, plus other more interesting original concepts people can do. Besides, maybe what people really need right now is people believing a better world is possible rather than accepting a crap one.
